How to Immigrate to Canada from the UK

Moving to Canada, let alone a new country, comes with many challenges and questions; Questions like “How do I know if I am eligible?” And if so, “What are the best Canadian immigration options for me?” ”

There are over 100 ways to move to this beautiful, multicultural and welcoming country, but there are two major immigration programs that issue invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Both of these programs are linked to the ever-popular Express Entry system and say a lot about what Canada is looking for in the selection process; Experience working in Canada and possess the essential skills and experience required in certain provinces and territories.

Let’s take a look at these two immigration programs and how to immigrate to Canada from the UK, through them both.

The Canadian Experience Class

The Canada Experience Class (CEC) has issued a large number of ITAs since the pandemic restrictions began in 2020. Although most people expected the Canadian Department of Immigration to slow down the processing of visa applications, in fact, the opposite has happened. The Canadian government has announced that it will increase its immigration totals to over 1.2 million people over the next three years.Advertisements

In 2021, Canada aims to invite between 1,058,500 and 110,500 Express Entry applicants through bi-weekly draws, where applicants are ranked according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) based on factors such as their age, education, language skills, and job vacancies. as well as other factors, such as their ability to adapt to Canadian life.

One way to show that you have the ability to settle in Canada is to know if you have ever lived and worked in Canada. The Canadian Experience Class is designed to help skilled foreign workers obtain permanent residence in Canada if they have:

  • a job offer in Canada;
  • have a high level of English or French; and
  • have at least one year of Canadian work experience.

To date, Canada has already issued 58,708 ITAs under the CEC program, including an unprecedented draw that took place on February 13, 2021, in which 27,332 invitations were issued in a single draw for applicants. with a CRS score of just 75 points.

The Provincial Nominee Program

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is another great immigration option for moving to Canada from the UK in 2021. Technically, PNP is not included in the Express Entry system, as each province has its own. set of requirements that must be met. , 11 of Canada’s provinces and territories have Express Entry categories in their respective PNPs.

This allows provincial governments to select suitable candidates directly from the Express Entry lottery and offer them a provincial nomination. A provincial nomination is one of the best ways to almost guarantee you will receive an ITA, as it is worth 600 CRS points. Given that most of the CRS cut-off scores in 2021 averaged around 743 points, earning an extra 143 points could be as simple as being the optimal age or having a good command of English or French.

To be able to apply through a PNP flow linked to Express Entry, you will need to:

  • meet the general Express Entry requirements as well as your chosen PNP requirements;
  • express interest in that particular province or territory when creating your Express Entry profile; and
  • possess skills, education, and work experience that may contribute to that particular province or territory.

To date, 3,063 ITAs have already been issued under Express Entry-related programs in 2021 and this number will continue to increase until Canada’s immigration target is met.

Are you interested in knowing if you qualify? There are several ways to do this. Many immigration companies offer eligibility assessments, but only certain consultants are legally permitted to offer paid services. These consultants are experts in their field and undergo rigorous training and testing to maintain the standards of the Canadian immigration system.
